Richard Kilroy

Hee you guys, sorry for my absent. Since the start of a new academic year, I’ve been busy with school projects. I have to make a magazine with my fellow students. So I’m pretty excited about that.

But I promise to update my blog at least two times a week!

My latest finds are these beautiful black and white illustrations are made by illustrator Richard Kilroy for the fall 2010 collection of Poneystep.

Kilroy’s image-making abilities lie in the strength of simplicity and form, and range from abstract minimalist line drawings to detailed realism, typography and photography.

Grazia PC Catwalk
Sorry for the delay you guys. I had to find enough photo’s to show you guys. Unfortunately I didn’t had the time to make some backstage pictures.

All the dressers had to be at the meeting point at 07:30 am. The coordinators explained to us what we had to do and what was expected from us.  The whole morning we were securing the shoes for the models to walk on and steaming the clothes. Before we knew it, we had to fit the models in their outfits and get to our post.

The show took off at 13:30 pm. The models all lined up and started to show off their outfits to the massive crowd in the PC Hoofdstraat in Amsterdam. When the first outfits were out, every dresser was embracing the moment of peace because we knew that as soon as the models came in, we needed to rush them in their second outfit.

We all pitched in and helped each other out where help was needed. It was really a great experience! I enjoyed every moment of it. The stress, the rush and the intense silence when the models were out. Every dresser was working hard to make it the best show ever.

I wanted to share some pictures with you guys. You can also check this video report.

Hee you guys! I’m exhausted but happy, because today I was a dresser for the Grazia PC Catwalk.

It was the second edition of the catwalk show at the PC. Hoofdstraat in Amsterdam. Labels like Emporio Amrmani, Oger, Azzurro, D&G, Tony Cohen, G-Star, Max Mara and Iceberg showed their collection.

All the dressers had to be at the meeting point at 07:30 am. We then secured the shoes for runway and fitted the models. The show started at 13:30 pm till 15:30.

A special thanks you to Shomara from MyrootsMystyle and Mynthevents for letting me take part.

I will post some photo’s tomorrow!

In every place, I look for fashionable ideas. For this fall I find the bow tie as a great option for guys and girls. In fact, the bow keeps rising as the lovely accessory for hair, dresses, hats and shoes since last season. But nothing beats the sweetness and elegance of a neck held by a classical bow tie.
According to the book “The Indispensable Book of Practical Life Skills” using a clip bow tie is a sartorialist abomination. Well, maybe for Mark Twain. Right now, not having a clue of how to wear it is the real abomination!
Getting into some history, neckties and bow ties alike are descendants of the cravat. These knotted kerchiefs came into fashion in the 17th Century, when they were worn by swashbuckling Croatian mercenaries in the service of France, deriving the term “cravat” from the French Word for “Croat”. So, the evil sometimes pays –at least in fashion ideas, though…
A lot of great fashion houses are developing this kind of ties using different fabrics besides silk, such as tweed, velvet and tartan print versions. The size may vary and the decoration is just topped by imagination; just take a look at this one with chains and metal flowers, designed by Christopher Bennett & Bruce Franklin. As you notice, the applications are part of the novelties of bow ties designs. Another great creative brand –Timo Weilland- uses the bow tie almost like it’s the center piece of the collection. Personally, I love them!

Perhaps you believe in DIY or more personalized options: here I can show you two ideas made by twitter followers who shared their projects. The first one comes from Alexinocouture and the lovely idea is using it as a necklace, keeping the bow hanging on a chain.

The other  DIY version I found is from ClobyClau, who’s a DIY queen who made this one from a piece of black ribbon and a security pin, keeping it feminine and cute, as well as the entire outfit.

I’m craving for a polka dots bow tie, just for a funny outfit creation!
